Septimius Severus, Denarius, 197-200
Rome - Fourrée - Billon - EF(40-45) - RIC:137
Head of Septimius Severus, laureate, right.
Genius, standing left, sacrificing with patera in right hand over lighted and garlanded altar, left, and holding corn-ears in left hand
Fourré denarius with traces of bronze that can be seen on the edge of the broken part of the flan. However, it should be noted that this denarius imitates a very rare issue of Septimius Severus denarii, of which only one authentic example is known to exist in public collections, and very few authentic examples have been sold in recent years.
